Sewing is the work of connecting cloth, fur, animal skins, bark, and other materials that a sewing needle and thread can pass through. Seam ripper is one of the tools or supporting tools used in tailor work, seam ripper itself is a small tool used to cut and remove stitches.
Based on the results of the research I did, starting from researching existing products and looking at the types of competitors, many products sold in general have handles that are not comfortable because they have a small and stiff shape, after that I conducted activity studies and user research to see how the user grips when using a seam ripper. From the data I collected, I came up with the idea of making a comfortable seam ripper handle following the way the user uses it.
After doing research on how general or lay users use the seam ripper, I started to sketch the idea of a seam ripper shape that is comfortable to use following how the user uses it
After doing an ideation sketch I chose 3 ideas that have the most comfortable shape to use
After choosing the 3 most comfortable ideas to use, I made a model study that was in accordance with the 3 ideas I chose. The creation of model studies is needed to find the most convenient form for users to use.
According to the results of the activity studies I did with 3 different users, I found the results that model number 2 was the most convenient form to use.
after finding the most comfortable shape I made a 3d model to determine the size to make it easier for me in the product manufacturing process
I made the final product by hand using amara wood and cork instead of rubber.
